Edible Gardening in Bali

A 3 day Gardening Workshop to help you successfully grow your own organic food. By the end of this weekend you will be able to design your space, plant your garden and grow food that’s local, edible, ethical and nutritious. This course is appropriate for anyone who wants to get there hands dirty and learn how to create a small garden in the tropics.

Day 1: Where to start? Growing food in Bali, A brief overview.

We will orient you to Bali’s landscape and what grows well in different climates. You will get an overview of plant families, annuals and perennial vegetables. You will receive an introduction to garden design and planning. We will take you through the basics of raising seeds at home. Which seeds like to be sown straight into your garden bed and which require a little more care in a nursery before planting.

Day 2: Compost, Soil Fertility and Crop Rotation

Learn how to prepare soil for planting and growing organic vegetables, flowers and fruit trees. We will teach you our compost secrets and how to concoct your very own plant-loving food and nutrients in the form of compost, compost teas, organic fertilisers and IMO’s (indigenous micro organisms).

Day 3: Harvest and Perennial Cooking

We will end the series with an abundant harvest and a community celebration of real food. You will learn how to cook  traditional balinese dishes with food you can grow year round!
